Does having too much homework ever keep you from doing the things you want to do? After talking to many different people, I learned that many people have, or have had too much homework!
Many people have busy lives. As Mrs. Card told me, “I spend so much time doing schoolwork at home, I rarely have time to do the things I want to do.”
I can remember one Tuesday I woke up so excited to go to Awanis club with my friends. When I came home from school, my Mom asked,”how much homework do you have tonight?” I explained that I had only three pages. My Mom told me Awanis started at 6:45, and if I didn’t finish my homework, I couldn’t go. I was so mad when I couldn’t go because I still had to catch up on my new book, and I didn’t get everything done!
Another example comes from a Mom named Paige. She remembers on time during school she was also working full time and it was very hard for her to have a social life. She decided she had to make choices and put everything in “perspective”. She chose to work hard then so she could play hard later.
Now, from a Dad’s point of view, Jim Smith had a memory! He told me that, “when I was in college, finals week required that I study day and night all week. I only stopped to eat and sleep!”
Then when I asked my Mom, she told me that when she was in college, she felt like she ALWAYS had too much homework! My Mom also had a baby while she was in college-ME! “Having all of that homework usually meant that I didn’t get to play with the baby as much, or be the kind of mom I wanted to be”.
Now I realize that having to much homework keeps me from doing the things I really want to do! Especially when I have to read seven chapters, or when I have EVERY subject for homework! ||
